F2W Eastbay with Devhonte Johnson

Snippets of the F2W in the eastbay from this weekend. Always a cool event to participate in. I didn’t win the match against Devhonte, he won with the referee decision.

I’ll be adding and polishing up some things I tried in the match. I’m looking forward to the next challenge.

Some people asked me what I was saying to the referee at the end of the match. No, I wasn’t trying to sweet talk my way to scoring points or complaining.

Here’s my perspective of what happened. At the beginning of the match, we went to the edge and while hand fighting for position, I felt a quite strong push in my mid back, that kinda jolted me forward. At that moment, I circled out and told the referee not to touch me. At the end of the match the referee said the next time I talk to him, or maybe he said tell him what to do, he will just call the match. So I was trying to clarify, I know what he was trying to do (keep us on stage, keep us safe, etc)

I was also trying to explain, when someone pushes me from behind it feels like I’m in a match with two people. One in front and one from behind. That’s all.

Regardless, many thanks to those behind the scene peeps like referees who are always trying their best!
