Eliot wrestled at Rocklin High School as a sophomore after living in Japan. His initial experience wrestling was in freestyle wrestling, and began the transition to folkstyle wrestling at the J Robinson Intensive Wrestling Camp. He became a league and subsection champion and placed high enough at sections to become a CA state qualifier his senior year. He also finished 6th at the AAU Nationals in 2002.
With a passion to wrestle at the next level, Eliot took on a new set of challenges at UC Davis where he was coached by Lennie Zalesky and Mark Munoz.
After graduating from UCD Eliot moved to Japan to teach English. He served as an assistant wrestling coach at Minakuchi high school, where he taught, and Ritsumeikan University for two years.
Upon his return to the Sacramento are in 2009, Eliot served as the volunteer assistant at UC Davis for their final season before the program was terminated by the Athletic Department. Eliot competed in the Dave Schultz International and Senior Nationals during his time as an assistant at UCD.
Eliot is now working on several projects to promote the history, internationalism, and future of wrestling.
